The Club Car Forward Reverse Switch is the only thing on your cart that can cause a problem shifting from forward to reverse. On a series cabbie, a manual style-forward and reverse switch is used. Copper contacts and copper busbars inside that switch help flop how the power flows back to the motor. This changes the polarity and allows the engine to spin in the opposite direction. Outside of a field issue with the motor, if the cart will go one in one gear and not the other, it must be a problem with the switch. You can typically see damage to this unit if it has gotten so bad that it will not run one way. You should see electrical burns on the copper or even signs of melting on the plastic that houses it. There also could be an issue with the golf cart microswitch on top of the forward and reverse. Depending on how it was wired, it could aid in the activation of the solenoid. Call Buggies Unlimited and get a Club Car part coming today.
