Product Details

The Club Car Forward Reverse Switch is the only thing on your cart that can cause a problem shifting from forward to reverse. On a series cabbie, a manual style-forward and reverse switch is used. Copper contacts and copper busbars inside that switch help flop how the power flows back to the motor. This changes the polarity and allows the engine to spin in the opposite direction. Outside of a field issue with the motor, if the cart will go one in one gear and not the other, it must be a problem with the switch.

You can typically see damage to this unit if it has gotten so bad that it will not run one way. You should see electrical burns on the copper or even signs of melting on the plastic that houses it. There also could be an issue with the golf cart microswitch on top of the forward and reverse. Depending on how it was wired, it could aid in the activation of the solenoid. Call Buggies Unlimited and get a Club Car part coming today.

Issue not resolved
Everything is good with the switch except it didn’t solve my issue (no reverse). After describing it to who I ordered it from he said this would fix it.

My cart club car it’s clicking when you push gas pedal down won’t go?
I ordered this part for my 1985 Club car, 36 volt. It appears it is the wrong fwd/reverse switch as there are more wires going to my current switch at the top and also two more contacts that come into play when the handle is moved. Not sure if I could submit a pic. Is there another fwd/reverse switch I should have ordered?
Can this 1983+ F&R switch for modified for a 1982 Club Car. If so, how?

Give us a call @ (888)444-9994. I am sure it can be done but you are going to need to get with the master tech. I have never had the pleasure of working on an 82 nor can I find a diagram for one. But give us a call and we will do our best to get you an answer!

Does power go thru selonids before forward reverse switch?

No, On solid state club cars that use this forward and reverse, the positive that passes thru the solenoid never makes it to the forward and reverse. To goes right to the controller and then to the motor. On this drive system, club car uses the forward and reverse to route the variable negative from the M- on the controller to the motor. I emailed you a diagram that illustrates this.

Will this work on a 97 gas cart?

Its all about the micro switch count when it comes to Club car forward and reverse switches. This forward and reverse switch only has one micro switch. I'd be willing to bet that your forward and reverse calls for 3 switches. If that is the case then take a look at the 5719.

What forward & reverse switch will work on my 1981 club golf cart 36 volts?

Hi Casper, if your Club Car has resistor coils instead of a solid state controller, then the FR switch you're looking at is the correct one.

my cart is a 2002 but the motor was replaced with a high speed electric motor will this work or do i need a heavier switch? Thank Al

Hello, we recommend upgrading your FR switch to the below switch:

Where can I find a wiring diagram for my f/r switch assembly for my 1982 CC?

I did the same thing Jerald did with my 1990 CC. I was also lucky enough to google it with the serial number and year just to make sure.
Donn

my par car only goes 10 mph forward. Won't go up to 20 mph like before (has new batteries). What do I do?

Hi , please give our tech support team a call at 1-888-444-9994. They can assist you with this.

the F/R shift works fine, but wire connectors are brittle and shorting out. Can I purchase replacement wiring?

WIth the limited information provided I would offer that you can replace the wire ends if the wires are long enough. If the wires aren't long enough, you may have to replace the wiring. Buggies Unlimited should be able to tell you if they carry replacement wiring.
