Cart Subtotal:
The Club Car Forward Reverse Switch is the only thing on your cart that can cause a problem shifting from forward to reverse. On a series cabbie, a manual style-forward and reverse switch is used. Copper contacts and copper busbars inside that switch help flop how the power flows back to the motor. This changes the polarity and allows the engine to spin in the opposite direction. Outside of a field issue with the motor, if the cart will go one in one gear and not the other, it must be a problem with the switch.
You can typically see damage to this unit if it has gotten so bad that it will not run one way. You should see electrical burns on the copper or even signs of melting on the plastic that houses it. There also could be an issue with the golf cart microswitch on top of the forward and reverse. Depending on how it was wired, it could aid in the activation of the solenoid. Give us a call @ (888)444-9994. I am sure it can be done but you are going to need to get with the master tech. I have never had the pleasure of working on an 82 nor can I find a diagram for one. But give us a call and we will do our best to get you an answer!
No, On solid state club cars that use this forward and reverse, the positive that passes thru the solenoid never makes it to the forward and reverse. To goes right to the controller and then to the motor. On this drive system, club car uses the forward and reverse to route the variable negative from the M- on the controller to the motor. I emailed you a diagram that illustrates this.
Its all about the micro switch count when it comes to Club car forward and reverse switches. This forward and reverse switch only has one micro switch. I'd be willing to bet that your forward and reverse calls for 3 switches. If that is the case then take a look at the 5719.
Hi Casper, if your Club Car has resistor coils instead of a solid state controller, then the FR switch you're looking at is the correct one.
Hello, we recommend upgrading your FR switch to the below switch:
I did the same thing Jerald did with my 1990 CC. I was also lucky enough to google it with the serial number and year just to make sure.

Hi , please give our tech support team a call at 1-888-444-9994. They can assist you with this.
WIth the limited information provided I would offer that you can replace the wire ends if the wires are long enough. If the wires aren't long enough, you may have to replace the wiring. Buggies Unlimited should be able to tell you if they carry replacement wiring.
