The activation circuit on your golf cart could not be more critical. It is a series of relays that get the solenoid the signal it needs to click in. The solenoid itself is an electromagnetic switch. When it receives a positive voltage from the battery on one terminal and a negative on the other, it closes an internal contact. It has to travel through several different items, the key switch, a few microswitches, and the Yamaha Stop Switch for G2, G8, and G9 models to get that signal there. This is the plunger-style switch in the floorboard of the caddie. It gets depressed as you push the pedal. Now think about how many times throughout the day you do that. Are you beginning to see why you have to replace it and why we consider this a high-wear item? This golf cart stop switch is easy peasy as far as installation is concerned. Getting it on and plugged in will take nothing but essential tools. Getting to the Yamaha part is the challenge. Have a buddy there to spot for you and jack up the front end.
