Just as the pressure in the cylinder needs to build, it needs to do the same in the crankcase. The difference being, the latter cannot get over a specific point without causing a problem. Parts like the Club Car FE290 Crankcase Vent Tube keep the compression from getting too high. Your fuel pump works on the in-out pressure of the crankcase to draw and pump fuel from the tank to the carb. If the pressure gets too high, it will not allow any gas movement and damage the pump, gaskets, and seals. Staying on top of small parts like this and making sure they are not clogged can prevent more extensive repairs in the future. Make it a part of your seasonal maintenance to check this part. This golf cart vent tube is a dirt dobber haven for some reason. Down here in Florida, if you leave your cart for more than a week without use, you should be checking for things like this. If you find damage, just give Buggies Unlimited a call.
