Cart Subtotal:
Most people are unaware of what their Club Car DS 48-Volt Forward Reverse Switch Assembly actually does. Well, we would be happy to educate you. There are two basic circuits on in. you have a low and a high amperage route. All of which is done at the same voltage. The recessed side of things is the three micro-switches that are mounted to it. These all have different jobs, from activating half-speed reverse, making the buzzer go off, and clicking the solenoid in. Two of them can fail, and the golf cart will still run fine. The higher amperage circuit flips the polarity in the motor so it can spin in the other direction. This is how your reverse direction is achieved. Without both avenues, you would be dead in the water.
This golf cart switch is copper contacted. This means that buss bars and contacts made of copper are used to pass the high amperage around the golf cart. Over time, just from the normal movement of shifting, this switch will wear down. Get it replaced at Buggies Unlimited.
bought a new forward and reverse switch. it has different wiring on micri switches how should I wire it. is there a schematic
Mine had the same number of wires as the original one did. So as I removed a wire from the old one I replaced it with the same wire on the new one. However, I do not recall how many total wires were involved. After I replaced mine, the guy at my golf cart repair place told me that most of the time a good spraying with WD40 would solve the problem of stiffness when shifting. To late to help me as I had already replaced mine.
I think it should!
