The PDS golf cart is one smart cookie. The controller has several multi-pin connectors that send and receive signals all over the cart. If something does not report correctly, the car is not allowed to run. This is one of the safest golf carts on the market because of it. One of the things that receive a lot of power from the controller is the motor. In fact, at full throttle, you get all the voltage that the batteries contain and the amplified amperage from the controller. The controller even monitors the RPM of the motor using an E-Z-GO PDS Speed Sensor. This is a tiny, multi-polled magnet that sends a signal to the controller as the motor spins. If it goes bad, your caddie will more than likely run, but at about three miles per hour.The golf cart speed sensor is located in the end cap of the motor.
