The internal battery temperature has to be above 30F to be able to take a charge. While discharging is possible down to -4F without issues, charging can only occur at the 30F+ internal temperature. If a battery is expected to operate in colder climates then the heated options is a great solution as it will warm the battery above the minimum required charging temperature before charging. Heating of the battery will only happen if the temperatures require it and if the battery is plugged in to charge. The heating function does not have any impact to performance metrics of the battery while in use.
